IIRC...the center round was probably the most common shield throughout history. It's documentable in the most time periods, the most cultures and so on...again ONLY IIRC. Image

I have a video out on an FTP server right now. m There are two videos there. They are the same video, one is just larger and therefore better quality. They are video of an event in Northshield princepality a few weeks back. The event is called Warriors and Warlords. The rest of the folders there are...

Well, Tybolt, they make you use armour for two reason. 1) Even tho they're boffers, they're not exactly pool noodles. I could jack someone pretty good with a boffer, were I to choose to do so. But then, I'm a 250 pound adult. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif 2) LOOKS MAN!!!! Sheesh! We're ...

High carbon, low carbon...what's the difference? http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif JUST KIDDING! Frankly, to be honost, I saw the "buy it now" price and saw "carbon" and assumed it was high. I think 255 as a price on a greathelm is pretty high. I am REALLY interested in knowing what the res...

I'd pick two, most likely. I'm 32, btw, and have been fighting in the SCA for 2 1/2 years and did japanese martial arts for the 15 years before that.

It'll be interesting to see what the reserve price is. I bid on it too...and didn't hit the reserve either. It's high carbon, so it wouldn't suprise me if the reserve is 150 to maybe as much as 225, given his "buy it now" price was 255.

There are deffinately bad rhinos that are female. I've never injured one. I just do the best I can to get them to take what I can dish out, which isn't really all that much, and if they end up hitting me before they take whatever I give them, I just leave the field with my honor in tact. I guess I don't see why anyone would want to use this in melee, because it could get caught on someone and the smaller person could get hurt. But in singles tourney...go for it. Dan said: This is a good example of what you can get away with varying depending on where your oponent's hand is. No rap is going to come from that hand position, so the sword leg forward stance has substantially less risk than it would have if the lefties hand were on the other side and in a more t...

WOW! That's kinda cool, Russ. I'll have to find out more about that. For me, I put in a single layer of closed cell in my close helm, then my arming cap. I do want to point out that if I were to use sheepskin, I'd STILL want a thin layer of closed cell foam to absolutely insure that the padding wouldn't bottom out. But that's just me. Image

Sorry, Owen, I'd have to disagree. Your point about the motorcycle helmet is perfectly accurate. Well, maybe not totally disagree, but I think you downplay the importance of the weight of the helm. I think the helm weight is more important than the padding. I think you think the opposite. http://www...

Padding is to keep your helmet from hitting your head, NOT to keep your brain from sloshing around. That's the job of the mass of the helmet. I'd be a LITTLE concerned with sheepskin if it was less than a layer. A single layer of sheep would easily bottom out and be a fairly hard surface. With my cl...
