Yeah, as an example, my broken arm at Estrella only got documented because I made sure it did. I didn't know it was broken until I got back to Dallas, and then I had to hunt down the right people to get the injury reported to the Estrella officials.

I understand the point that the elbow and gorget rules are clarifications of badly worded rules. However, that doesn't really matter. The badly worded rules have spawned interpretations that demonstrate (atlantia with elbows, Trimaris and Ansteorra, among others with the gorgets) that the rules may ...

Jurgen, I know where you're coming from concerning 40 years of data, and that our data is largely incomplete, particularily anything more than a certain age. But with neck injuries, you'd think we'd have some institutional memory with regards to how many fighters have been killed or paralyzed by get...

yes. in AEthelmearc, there are people who will flip if you touch their body with a shield in a tourney. in the past it has been considered 'grappling'. shield/weapon contact only. i mentioned on another thread my surprise the first time i fought w/ Ansteorrans and they chicken-winged my arm over my...

Ah...the seller in on Long Island, so you're just speculating that this might be stolen. Got it.

These kinds of things pop up now and then. It's often an abandoned storage unit or the like. But yeah, any Easties think this stuff looks familiar or have any stolen armour reports lately?

Did you ask him where he came across this treasure trove?

"Wow, that's a pretty good deal for someone. I've never seen you fight in that stuff, where did you come across it? Do you know who made it?"

You don't have to accuse him of stealing it to ask some innocent questions.

The archers I know all put some odd color "thing" on their arrow. It may be a series of color stripes or whatever. They put the same color combo on all arrows, in addition to their names. it's easier to see your own color combo in the same place on every arrow as you go through the pile.

I've been to a lot of kingdoms, but Caid isn't one of them so I can't really say. "Dressed nice" is so relative. For example, if you see 10 early period persona people dressed as nicely as they can be correctly, and 10 in Tudor, the IMPRESSION that MOST people get is that the Tudors are "dressed nic...

Too much specialization, IMO. I think that the moderation and encouragement of better subject lines such as [SCA] or [Event Announcement] would be a fantastic step. But more subs isn't really the best way to go. I've seen boards with 50+ sub boards, and they're usually mostly desolate places. I mean...

I believe you're both talking about the same thing. When Logan says "full speed without full force" I'm pretty certain he's talking about "removing a link in the power train" at some point. Without doing that, it is indeed impossible to deliver full speed sans full force.

He says "steel combat" ***AND*** "re-enactment" in his initial post. You can do one, you can do the other, and I suppose you could figure out a way to do both at the same time. But re-enactment INDICATES that an absolute necessity to do things EXACTLY as they were is there. Napoleon can't win at Wat...
