Here is a list of the armour we have in stock and ready for immediate delivery: Articulated half gauntlets: $80.00...

My latest greaves project
Here are a pair of custom tooled greaves I just finished. <IMG src="http://www.houseofthewolf.com/gallery/rdrtooledgreaves2.jpg"> I toned down the dishing a little on these so that the shaping of the calf is a little more supple. The 3 hp buffer I have on line is really helping with the polishing......

Your edge cuts seem to look a little rough. I think I see evidence of beveling, but I can't be sure. Since you are using wax to harden you should be able to burnish the edges to a really high polish. You can do this with any smooth object, a slicker tool works well for this. Burnishing will give you...

knoch, The technique that is being discussed involves soaking the leather in room temp water until it is completely saturated. (the timing is variable based on thickness of leather, density of the fibers, etc) The leather is shaped either by compressing and dishing or by forming it over a wooden las...

Bashing the crafter is out and out stupid. If someone doesnt want something historical built for them what is the crafter going to do. Say no I cant take your money to help continue my craft because what you want is not historical. I completely agree that bashing the crafter is very unproductive. H...

Uilleag, Fantastic work once again. Really showing us all the great works that can be done with leather. What technique do you use to cause the musclulata effect on a breastplate? I've always kind of wondered how someone would go about doing it, getting the right shape, size, and pattern for the mu...

I do not believe that fluting leather was a period technique or practice. (Mostly because there is no evidence of it). However, fluting is a part of my working hypothesis that I can do to leather what can be done to steel. Mostly in an anttempt to learn its capabilities and what will and will not wo...

Torvaldr, I am sorry to hear of your misfortunes. Jumping out on that full-time armouring limb is scary. This is going to sound overly critical, but it is crucial to your advancing your tooling skills. I notice a lot of individual tool marks in your work, this is caused by one of two things, either the leather is too damp when you are tooling it, or you are not hitting the tool with even force. Try all...

All of the armour here is historically inspired, but I took a lot of artwork ideas from areas other than armour...... This first pic is of the cuirass. 1. What got you into armoring? My intense interest in TLotR got me involved in Dagorhir ions ago, which got me interested in the SCA. The bug was planted and it grew from there. 2. What do you most enjoy about the process? The creativity and energy in building a new piece, developing a new pattern, ...

Cathal, Soaking the leather over night is a good idea. I understand the 20 hour thing, that has happened to me in the past as well. Did you leave it in the oven until it was completely dry? Also, I usually do all of my edging work, dyeing, etc while the leather is still wet. This accomplishes a few ...

Once again, thanks for the fantastic tutorials. I have been wondering what your shovel greaves would look like on me...and how big the pattern would be for a 400+ lb. fighter. ANyway, the question is, how did you get that great looking green color on some of your work? Is it dye? Someone here sugge...
