In this picture m Is your wrist all of the way back? It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think that you will have mobility issues with this design., but until they are strapped and hardened, then used with a sword and baskethilt its hard to say. solid piece designs can be limiting in full rang...

It looks like you dished the cuff or bell. This seems to interfere with some of the movement. Especially with rotating the wrist back, the cuff or bell bottoms out on the vambrace. It also looks as if the main joint of your thumb is exposed, that could cause problems if the thumb isn't protected by ...

Uilleag I might want one of your body armors for my wife. The question is how more will it cost to increase the bust size to a double D or an E cup? I want to surprise her with her own armor. I can get the measurements it would take awhile as I need to keep it secret from her. I'm adding pics of he...

Sir Johannes, My dear friend Lachlann wrote, "Bring yourself, your lady, a man at arms or page and such diverse others as you deem fit before me on Hastings field before the fort on Thursday at 1 pm. I have chosen this time so as to not conflict with many of the goings on that day." We will both be ...

Lord Lachlann MacNiall, All that you require of me, I shall meet. As I pen this missive, my smithies are preparing the matched swords for this engagement and I am having two fine shields crafted as well. The scribes are busy writing my patons of nobility, and my artisans are crafting a gift for your...

Most people in my neck of the woods don't seem to be focusing on proper form, etc while practicing it. From what I have seen there is a tendency to attempt to take advantage of the slower moving defense, with ill-placed or bad body palcement when returning blows. I have tried it a few times and fall...

Actually Trevor, I was refering to the effigies that I have seen where the knee cops do not completely cover the knee. Those aren't legal for SCA, but would make great reproductions for LH, etc. "The only caveat is that the poleyn extends to cover the sides of the knee joint, so the front-only type ...

There are many opinions of the soupcans on effigies being leather rather than metal. Perhaps that isn't SCA legal, but it might be historic. Something to think about... I am in the process of reproducing a few suppositional harnesses based off of interpretation of effigies and sculptures, least-wis...

You know, Uilleag, you ought to find a merchant who does the proper poleyn with these and pair up with them so your customers can obtain them. A very good thing you have done here, as doing early 14th century/late 13th century can be difficult and these greaves will spiff up many kits just dandy. D...

You should add some soupcan knees to go with them. That would look good over mail chausses. That is exactly what these greaves are designed to be worn with. However, I am strictly a leatherworker. Historically based 14 century greaves
I have finally struck upon a pattern that pleases me to add to my historical line. These 14th century schynbalds will be available with custom embossing and a variety of colors and custom painting. The munition's grade will sell for $74.00 / pair, with embossing and custom paints for an additional f...

14 Century cuir bouilli Greaves
I just finished hardening these, and I am very happy with how they turned out. These are for a client who has ordered a complete rig, but they are a good example of what my munition's grade schynbald's (SP?) will look like. <IMG src="http://www.houseofthewolf.com/progresspics/csgreaves.jpg"> <IMG sr...

Intrest has really escalated Since December. My commission list is comfortably full and my possible commissions, (client's I'm working with while they decide exactly what they want) is fenominal. Uilleag, Those greaves, how would they work with an early late 13th century/early 14th century rig, with single-peice poleyns? The fellow who was thinking of doing Mycenaen, Gregory, is thinking of something in that time period and harness. Jehan de Pelham, esquire and servant of Sir Vitus Late 13t...

If you used Tandy's Super Sheen, or a similar product, I use a little rubbing alcohol and a green scrungy pad to remove it. Then thouroughly clean it with clean water. Do not use saddle soap at this point the new dye will not penetrate it. You can then apply the black dye over the brown. I suggest d...
