I used to use that technique too. Then a good friend of mine turned me on to the idea of grinding down tools, to custom make them to fit the fine detail I wanted to do. I have to say that I have found a lot more sucess with fine detail since then. It just takes a lot longer to do.

I have to agree with II here. 4-5 ounce might even be a little stiff. It depends on the tanning method of the leather. If the 4 - 5 oz is supple I would use it, but with all COP's I highly recommend wahsers to keep the rivets from pulling out or the material tearing.
