very nicely done, very clean lines. Just a note: It looks like your second set of straps from the top look to be attached with the same rivet as the top of the articulation. If this strap ever breaks the client will have to cut off the articulating rivet and replace it to replace the strap. It is u...

Here are the pics w/ the Pauldrons as promised. Sorry for the delay, screwed up one of the shoulder lames and had to make a new one, (the dye bled through the paint and couldn't cover it). Anyway, they are finished! <IMG src="http://houseofthewolf.com/pics/loricapauldrons1.jpg"> <IMG src="http://hou...

Articulated Leather Legs (pics)

Greetings all! Busy, busy, busy! (Which is always a good thing!) Just finished some legs and got around to posting them to my site, thought I would share. I must say, that this Lorica is my creation. I used my interpretation and artistic license to create it. I was going more for the flavor of a Roman piece, as opposed to recreating anything. Since it has been stated that leather loricas probably didn't exist, I so no reason to attempt to recreate som...

To be honest, leather lorica segmentatas probably aren't authentic. I do not know of any extant remains of leather loricas being found. That doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't exist. It just means that I don't think there is any evidence of them done in leather. However, I really like the way...

I have some good documentation on the hardening process of leather, Talbot, but if you have any pics/write up on the process, I would love to see it!

Maybe a class on types of armour that would go with hardened leather, other than maille?

I used to use that technique too. Then a good friend of mine turned me on to the idea of grinding down tools, to custom make them to fit the fine detail I wanted to do. I have to say that I have found a lot more sucess with fine detail since then. It just takes a lot longer to do.

I'm not sure why ROC doesn't recommend the circular saw method, but I know why I wouldn't recommend it; circular saw sometimes jump when cutting dense or hard woods, free cutting like that is inherently dangerous, and then add the chance of it jumping back into you.... I have to agree with II here. 4-5 ounce might even be a little stiff. It depends on the tanning method of the leather. If the 4 - 5 oz is supple I would use it, but with all COP's I highly recommend wahsers to keep the rivets from pulling out or the material tearing.
