Tim, the loose scales are normally $25.00 per 50 scales the heater scale is 2" X 2.5" but for a set up fee of $100.00 I can get a die made to whatever size you want. Drill pattern is up to you. Thickness I use 8-9 ounce vegetable tan leather. Color is no charge.

Something to bear in mind about cost. My suit which is from neck to knee has 650 scales. So at $1.00 a scale that is a huge investment. It is a little hard to advize you not knowing what kind of armor you are looking for. I make hardened leather armor, and make it to fit the person it is for. So size doesn't matter too much

Protection wise the thing to remember about scale armor is that the smaller the scale the more flexible the suit and the less it will distribute and absorb impact. The scales I normally use are 2" X 2 1/2", I am planning on a new die for making scales that are 1 1/2" X 2" for making lorica squamata ...

Actually I am not sure he was asking for lamellar. From what I read and understand he wants scales. You could try the Ring Lord. He has at least 2 or 3 types of metal scales. The only thing is I am not entirely sure what sizes he has.

I use All Saint Armoury baskets. They are a bit expensive $60.00 each. But indestructable, and beautiful. When ever I can get some fromSir Thomas they are usually spoken for before he gets them done.

Over all the seax is just about 15 1/2" the handle is about 3 1/2" it fits in my hand perfectly.
