You will probably find that most serious SCA type fighters have a bull neck (larger than average, from wearing a helmet). I suspect that they will be one or two sizes up above the average normal proportion. Because of this phenomenon, armourers should be careful in building gorgets for new fighters...

The plain glue will work fine. The gesso is used to give a white base for painting, if that is your goal.

I got my rabbit glue from Dick Blick Co. at http://www.dickblick.com/zz089/23/produ ... ig_id=4683. It is an art supply store. The dried rabbit glue powder is added to water to make the glue, so a pound will last a very long time.
