I'd say you've just found a way to mass produce table wedges :D . In all honesty you should have cut some test pieces first and then altered your pattern. Are you from the UK by the way?

Depending on the breastplate style they go from easy to quite difficult and challenging. Easy being a churburg #13 segmented breastplate which requires very little large plate work. to a B&W breastplate with raised panels with a central ridge. other tricky pieces include: Greaves, raised helmets, po...

IF you're new to armouring i'd advise against it. it's quite a complex helm to do without the proper techniques. I'd suggest a great helm or spaulders for a first project. simpler to do but still looks good on its own if you get me. hate to burst your bubble.

Mines much less further on, it's still quite shallow and wide brimmed. I just found this on the grimmarmoury site, thought t might be of some use to you. http://www.grimmarmoury.com/gallery/late15th/Chapel_de_fer15_1 I'm going for something a bit shallower, it seems easier for a big raising project.

IT was the description that caught me. plus the breastplate just doesn't seem to have that medieval breastplate look. it's not much to go on but i believe i am correct.

If you mean the thing with 4 rectangular holes, i believe it is a WWI breastplate. First World War Body Armour - This is a set of First World War body armour, used by the British Army. It has curved metal plates for the chest and the back, and was supposed to protect snipers and other vulnerable sol...

The proper way to do it is to put a small hook above the handle. this allows you to just pull it off whenever, like this.http://home.armourarchive.org/members/hayman/buckler.bmpIt's the little hook aove the handle.

It depends on what your making really. raising thickens the metal but it loses roughly 1%(thickness) every time you heat it due to scale. It all depends on how you work it also, some people dish and raise other just raise. Theres no definate formula for it, just guess how thick you want it to start ...

Was armour ever traded, in?

In the days of old when armour was picked up after battle (sometimes) was it ever traded with an Armourer for another piece. Say a bascinet was taken and it was brand new for the battle, would the armourer ever take it back and give the new owner something he needed?
