do you have a heat torch like a propane torch or oxt-acet torch. if so you could anneal the aluminIum so that it won't crack or crack so badly. a quick search for aluminIum annealing on google should work.

for those that can;t quite get their head around riveted(me) there is always flat butted maille. it looks like riveted and seems to be pretty strong.

i have made a small patch of the stuff and from a distance it looks as though its riveted maille. anyone else made this type of mail before? i just can't emphasize how cool it looks. :D

yeah but still though. it's sinrics work. and it is definately from his pattern. it's almost identical apart from the fact that sinrics is much nicer :D. it's actually only possile to copywright written material.

right. i think i have this raising thing down. i have raised a few shield bosses and other stuff that is non armour related and feel confident to tackle a helm. i started on a corinthian helm but realised the amount of material i had wouldn't get much further than my mouth. i quite like the bascinet...

what period are you looking at rocketmike. 14th century is very popular with a lot of pieces which can be made on the cheap if you look hard. read the essays and ask lots of questions.
