according to my chemistry teacher HCL can't etch brass because it's not strong enough. is this true? He seems to think that even a mild/strong sulphuric will have trouble.

Be sure it's not wrought iron you're deeling with or you could have a huge pile of iron pieces. wrought iron tends to break when struck without a lot of heat. By all means attempt the sword it will be hard and time consuming though.

There is a harness in the royal armouries but i'm not sure of the name. it's a full suit with red arming garments in the war gallery. I want to take a micrometer to the breastplate cos it looks really thin.
