asking for patterns is the wrong way to go. look in the essays section read and read and look at REAL pieces and then read some more. a project like that i would think to be too hard for a beginner. why not try some spaulders. they look good and teach all the basic techniques. try making another pos...

i've been stick welding for a couple of months and i can weld 18g with no burn throughs. just be careful. i'd recommend this as there are no gas tanks involved.

he's not sca but i thought as though he wouldn't have any other armour to attach spaulders to this would look pretty good.he isn't a member of any re-enactment group so he doesn't even have anything to point them too. a breastplate sort of holds itself there.

they are incredibly easy to make. i once was told i would have to buy an expensive mouthpiece but that is not the case. i simply chopped a bit off and drilled successively larger holes through the end until it worked. Instead of a reed i use my lips much like a trumpet.

Bronze is one hell of an expensve metal. in 1972 in the uk the scrap price for a bronze bolt about 4inches long was 33pence. and they were scrap prices. no doubt they've gone up a hell of a lot.
Whilst we're here. anyone know where i can get brass sheet in the uk. preferably yorkshire.

I plan on using brass. i will be spending a lot on brass so i'd rather not have to cut out large chunks of scrap. I did mean a corinthian helmet. i couldn't remember the name for a minute. thanks steve
