I'd recommend 'The Great Warbow' by Hardy and Strickland. It provides a good base on European bow warfare in the middle ages.

If you have trouble with spaulders, i'd advise working on another pair until you get them to a level you like. try another project running alongside it to switch to for thinking time.

I'd be extremely cautious of using anything other than an original harness or image to base a project off of. That looks to be late 19th century, from a french book i think. Get out to museums, trawl through the Bildindex (www.bildindex.de) use google if you have to but try to keep to originals as b...

Ask yourself a couple of questions and work it out from there. At least get your money back on it rather than charging a 'fair' price, get what it is worth. 1.How long will it take 2.how much are the materials 3. How long did it take you to draft patterns etc? 4.How much of a margin do you want to m...

The strap is designed to hold the breastplate and placard to each other. Though, some armours, most popular on spanish types have the bevor strapped or pointed to the breastplate.

The 'hinge' is a lance rest or arret, used to support the lance when heading down the tilt/ into battle.

How about (wait for it) pavises. Most groups should have one, some groups' do but they honestly look not so great. Not terrificaly (sp?) difficult to build (in theory, putting that to test very soon) . thoughts?

Looks like someone relaised the helmet (italian sallet) was usable and decided to put a visor on for later use. alternatively, it could be a later monstrosity and how the new owner wanted it to look? Without a closer look, it'd be hard to tell.
