Re: btmcrae, don't use the goves with any powered equipment

I saw that you got a set of welding gloves from Harbor Freight. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but please don't use then around any powered equipment (well, other than a welder). You might think that you will avoid cuts by using the gloves, but there is a much greater chance that you will sn...

I'm guessing the holes were not mistakes or they would have been filled in, judging by the rest of the breatsplate, it looks pretty finished. Possibly for the attachment of a re-enforce? maybe a large latticework shield>

TMR, look to the right and you'll see the wheel that rotates the hammer shaft.

It appears that the metal coming form the piece of wood is holding it in place and is bent over and fixed to stop it rolling away. sort of like a bearing housing.

Personally, judging by the frame work its attached to and the stone just off of the screen, its the crank handle to the stone. for grinding.

What's wrong with a globose visor? they look pretty cool, you could wlaways widen the eyeslots and add some bars. (note, this may not meet SCA specs, i'm not in the SCA, it's merely an idea)

Don't forget that the sallet did stay on into the early 16th century, though was replaced with more typically 16th century styles like the close helm.

annealing is really only needed if you're dishing very deeply, even then, it is not always needed. Try a weed burner, Hal used one to heat his metal as i understand. I mean, if you want a forge, by all means get one, they're handy for stock forging and it makes dishing and stretching easier. I'm jus...
