Randall, you're lucky, not only can our cats open the front door but also the fridge and climb the shelves to drag things out. like, say, a joint of gammon, just before christmas, little sods. I've had the cat pee on mail before and its nay too pleasant.

Cat, that makes perfect sense becasue it's how i do it. I personally find it hard to make fivelets and join them together. I prefer to make a row about 5 rings wide and sit it on my knee listening to some music. then i just pick a ring out and open it depending on how the row is lying.

Just to clear things up, this stuff is actually made for their roman line coming in '06 apparently. I got a sample of this stuff and it is amazing. i believe they will also be selling loose rings in this size but i'm unsure. great for a standard.

from what i've seen of the examples in the Royal Armouries and felt (only one sample unfortunately) between about 8-9mm should suffice. Though, this is hardly gospel. Rings on a mantle could reduce to about 3mm or so as posted by Erik Schmid earlier this year. Failing that and taking the easy route,...

A detailed and well written book on bows in general is The great warbow. Can't vouch for the accuracy of the info but it all seems to be there.

Surely the Welsh can't be better at something than the English

Looks great, though i do have one minor quarm with it. The black and white style it is decorated in is a mid 16th century thing, not 15th. But, other than that, looks great.

Have you ever made any western Quivers? I've been wanting a proper 15th century one made for a while and my leatherwork is somewhat depressing. PM sent.

Try contacting Wade Allen, this piece i his and i'm sure he'll be able to help you. For clarification, this is called a munion. It is often seen with half armours such as those in the landeszeughaus, Austria. Try contatcing the museum to see if they have any info or pictures, they are very helpful.
