The person you want to talk to is Toby Capwell, curator of Arms and Armour for Glasgow museums. He has done tons of research into English armour and has a book on it too i think (unsure). He can be contacted via the Kelvingrove museum site (re-opening next year)

Just to clear somehting up to avoid confusion on your part. A Hauberk, AFAIK, is only made of mail. I've not heard it refered to as an item of clothing though.

I find a thin necked chippies hammer is good for planishing with a little TLC to the face (I.E, sanding and polishing). For dishing, a ball pein hammer with the larger side sanded/ground into a radius of whatever diameter is handy to have around. Don't forget to round off the corners :-)

Witchfinder, for a breastplate, depending upon what you are doing, 16g should be good. I wouldn't go much thinner even for foam weapons. There is a certain amount of hardening from forming but someone is bound to hit harder than everyone else.

Under about 4 feet and it's not worth pieceing together for a larger section of track. I'm sure if you go in daylight and offer cash for a scrap like piece, they won't mind. So long as they aren't just working nearby and taking money for the rail companys track!

I don't have a 'persona' as such. more, following along the norm of the type of character i'd like to live like. I've always fancied Tobias Tauler for a Landsknecht 'persona' though. Or John paynter if i HAD to choose a name.

I read a interview with Toby Capwell a while back where he talked about his newest armor. It wasn't $30k(US) it was 30k pounds (UK), something like $50k(US). That includes saddle and everything and if you think that trim was brass you would be wrong. Personally if I could afford that I wouldn't jou...
