There is a twofold reason for my asking. One - Being a marshall once paperwork is done, I wanted to know the legality of it. Two - If it is allowable, there aer some of the historical manuevers (I33, etc...) that become more useful. Admittedly, they need modification for SCA use, but the usefulness ...

(SCA) Grasping weapons...

In the rulebooks, it states that you are able to grab an opponents weapon, by the haft, ricasso grip, pommel, crossguard, handle, etc...basically the non-"damaging" parts. What about grabbing the basket hilt? or te haft of a single handed mace or axe? I dont recall reading that you cannot do it....I...

I am sure there are a number of things leading to the development of the glancing surface through the 14th c, but I think that Wil is theorizing that the STYLE of the pig-faced visor could have stemmed from the conical shape of the plague mask. There are many other shapes that a glancing surface cou...

Would layers of leather sewn together work for a base of the Hache head? Padding, of course, added to the striking surfaces. I have seen many a spear/pollarm that had a sewn leather shield hook on it out on the melee field at wars.

Since the Brian Price pollaxe/Bec head is not passed for two handed weapon use in the Middle, I was seeking a material to make the head for a La Jeu de la Hache for SCA combat. Do you know the name of the rubber material that you used? Polyethylene maybe? I am looking into materials at www.mcmaster....

I have had a marshall fail a thrusting tip because it was too squishy (and no, it did not expose the edges of the rattan- he said it is ...

That is a very interesting theory. I never made the correlation. Armour did follow fashion. And those masks are a fashion, of a sort.
Perhaps the pignose visor was designed so that the wearer could still wear their plague mask within?

farslayer - glued together would technically fall under lamination, by definition, and thus *could* be disqualified as a legal SCA weapon. I would prefer not to take a chance of that. Any ideas on 2" EVA foam? I have a specific design in mind that I want to work with that requires this thickness. Ag...

Best place to get EVA foam sheets.

Just what the subject asks :)

I am looking for 2" thick EVA type foam that can be used for SCA weapon heads (especially two handed weapons)

Thank you in advance for assistance.

Brian, those numbers were hypothetical. Yeesh. They were strictly used to make a point (being that with a lower price, you will sell more.) You are in somewhat of a quandry.... The cheaper you make it, the more you will sell... to a point, of course. At $50 a piece, you may sell 200....but at $25 a piece, you may sell 500.

I would be interested in one, but, of course, I have a debt that I need to pay off first. :)
