There is a twofold reason for my asking. One - Being a marshall once paperwork is done, I wanted to know the legality of it. Two - If it is allowable, there aer some of the historical manuevers (I33, etc...) that become more useful. Admittedly, they need modification for SCA use, but the usefulness ...

(SCA) Grasping weapons...
In the rulebooks, it states that you are able to grab an opponents weapon, by the haft, ricasso grip, pommel, crossguard, handle, etc...basically the non-"damaging" parts. What about grabbing the basket hilt? or te haft of a single handed mace or axe? I dont recall reading that you cannot do it....I...

I am sure there are a number of things leading to the development of the glancing surface through the 14th c, but I think that Wil is theorizing that the STYLE of the pig-faced visor could have stemmed from the conical shape of the plague mask. There are many other shapes that a glancing surface cou...

Since the Brian Price pollaxe/Bec head is not passed for two handed weapon use in the Middle, I was seeking a material to make the head for a La Jeu de la Hache for SCA combat. Do you know the name of the rubber material that you used? Polyethylene maybe? I am looking into materials at www.mcmaster....

Oh, aye. I agree, but using tape to hold together a thrusting tip vs using glue to hold together two layers of a 2 handed mass weapon head is two different beasts. I have had a marshall fail a thrusting tip because it was too squishy (and no, it did not expose the edges of the rattan- he said it is ...

farslayer - glued together would technically fall under lamination, by definition, and thus *could* be disqualified as a legal SCA weapon. I would prefer not to take a chance of that. Any ideas on 2" EVA foam? I have a specific design in mind that I want to work with that requires this thickness. Ag...

Late 13thc/early 14thc Couter
I am looking for an extant example of a late 13thc/early 14thc couter. I have seen a number of effigies that have been of assistance, but would like to see an actual example, if there is one. I cannot seem to find one on the net anywhere. Likely it is just me not using the proper search parameters. ...

Actually, I have fought in this helm myself, and against some larger heavy hitting people. I never had any issues with it being lighter weight. Took what turned out to be an excessive face thrust that knocked me backwards and onto my a$$. The only ache I had from the shot was the one where I landed ...

Inside, I use white or black enamel paint. Rustoleum has the added rust prohibative chems in to, so that is usually my choice. Outside, I use a double coat of the 2001 -1 year Tututle wax in the bright (read: neon) GREEN container. Even getting beat on regularly, it does not rub or chip off. Used it...

Since you (Eric and Brian) seem to be reading either more into what I am saying or what you want into what I am saying, this is my last post on this topic. I did not say it was not WORTH $100. I said given your market, $100 may be too much. I did not say that 200 or 500 would be your output # of DVD...

Brian, those numbers were hypothetical. Yeesh. They were strictly used to make a point (being that with a lower price, you will sell more.) I agree that the market is specific, but look closely at the market. There are several threads currently out there started by ML about how expensive armour is, ...

Thanks for the info all, I am looking for a particular look for my La Jeu de la Hache. I think I will just get the foam and shape it myself. My hache was lookin to be about 5' in length, so most definitely a two-handed weapon. Was a reason given for nixing the Price pollaxe head for twohanded weapons?
