That "arming pourpoint" is very similar to the one I designed. I only have one point for each leg.... pretty much centered between the placement of those in the pics. I even use leather to strenthen the points. I will say, after havnig used it for the past year, or so, it is a must have for me for n...

As the topics have been covered, I will not reiterate them here. I will say this. In the SCA, start with as much historical accuracy as you can. Then improve upon it. Not only will it benefit you, it will benefit everyone around you. I will post a couple of pics of my kit change within a 3 month per...

ALRIGHT!! STOP STEALING MY PROJECTS!!

hehe.... quite funny really. I am currently working on a VERY similar helm. Same type of onion top, same type of sweep on the back (though mine is not so drastic.)

Looking nice. I will post pics when I have planished and polished it. (next weekend maybe?)

I agree that a standardization of rules would solve more issues than it causes, but The football example doesnt really fit. They STARTED with set rules.... the SCA really didnt. To conform now would be a hard process.

What type of dance best enhances combat footwork, or....

Does any work? Dancing is all about footwork. Footwork vastly improves combat. There was a thread a while ago about dancing and how it helped. I am curious what types (styles) of dance best work. Salsa? Rumba? Ballroom? Hip Hop? Slam (j/k)? I am curious of other peoples experiences. Thanks for shari...

Weight concerns will lead you to plastic. The difference in wt between metal and armour grade thick leather is nominal (and actually, 20ga 1050 is lighter than 12-14oz leather, and costs less).

Personally, I go for the accuracy...go with metal. Metal goooood.

Wool = bad - Not combat worthy for a CoP

Leather or multi-layer canvas = good - Holds up to combat well.

With either, never punch holes. Use an awl or some such to move through the material without cutting it. Holes will last MUCH MUCH longer.

IF Mike is good with it, he can drop all of it off at my place to save on gas and we can take it from there. With all of Kiyohara's, Gruber's, Ingrid's and DukeAlaric's - it may take two trucks.

Now understand my position. I was pushing for 14ga purchase. You KNEW I wanted 14ga and wanted to expand my order if higher numbers were hit. You neglected to inform me of those numbers, and that 500# had been breeched. Error seems to be with you.
