Prior to that, I finished the scales for T-Bob's scaled curiass (which, BTW, I have not seen yet T-Bob!!) - if you want to count that as a first commision. Currently, I am working on my own armour (full suit late 14th c transitional...

This thread now has 3 pages of "heated discussion" on the worthiness of thrusting (specifically "folly thrusting" for matter of discussion with His Grace) and how wussy the touc...

Anyone else have any information to offer.

I have checked online and my local library and found little information.

Again, any further documented information would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Late 14th c Corrazina fabric covereings...

I am to the point in my development with this piece that I am deciding upon the type of material with which to cover a corrazina. I am aware of the velvets used, but what of brocades? Wools? heavy silks? I am curious what other options I have to work with aside from velvet. Most appreciative of any ...

I checked that site a bit more... it is medium to high carbon - 1070 to 1095.

Stock is up to 15-16ga. 14 is not stock,. but easily done in the 1070 annealed. I am curious of the cost....

maybe a good source for spring steel, not just perf steel sheets.

Hoping to add some Pell to it this week, but keep it the same otherwise.

Looking for pictures of as many helms as possible.

My lady is considering fighting (SCA), so I am trying to gather information for her. I have shown her the Greathelms, Basinets, Spagens and the Vendel helms. So far, she likes Valsgärde 5 and the Ulltuna Helm. Although she appreciates the work and likes the look of many kits in the 15th and 16th ...

As often as I get hit on in the wrist area and as valuble as my hands are to me, I would not fight without a full cuff. Having a modicum more wrist flexibility is not worth permanent damage. Given the vulnerability of the area, I am surprised that it is not a hard cast rule. (I interpret the rule th...

I am the same way Adriano. I am the up close type fighter. I would rather be in the shield wall bangin it up than with a spear. I do fine with it, but it is just not my style...put a sword, axe, mace, greatsword in my hand and I get this unconcious grin when I am on the field.

I would think that a "marine enviroment" would be one of high salt content, which would be classified as the corrosive. I could very well be mistaken, but even aside from the enviroments mentioned, it only states stainless steel.

Either I am misunderstanding the response, or I misspoke my previous post - The 9 lbs to which I refered, was to the 1050 helm that I recently built. Most SCA helms that I have felt/weighed, are in excess of 13 lbs. That is near a 30% reduction in weight, which is a chunk, at least for a helm. The h...
