I will see if I can get some taken this weekend at practice.
I will do one of the pourpoint and where the legs attach and then one of the gambeson and where the spaulders and then the arms attach.

Based upon bits of information here and there and a seminar on occasion... The pig-faced basinet seems more popular for the majority of western Europe save for in Germany, where the klappviser seems more prevalent. But then, the germans liked to do there own thing anyway..... I like them both myself...

On my gambeson, I used two pieces of thin leather, on on either side (inside/outside) of the material at the point's location. Then I just threaded the lace through both layers of leather and the cloth. The leather was attached with speed rivets, but when I go to do this again, I will be stitching t...

MAJOR STRONG OVERWHELMING supporter of pointing to your aketon/gambeson type garment. I was once were slightly ill fitting armor with the arms pointed to the spaulders and the spaulders pointed to the CoP I was wearing. Although this setup simplified arming up, it limited my movement and I was blowi...

I believe that is at the root of my dilema. DID they? I checked another library and found nothing to support it, so.... it appears that I will have to discuss this with my client and go with their wishes on the accuracy part. Thank you all for the comments. Whatever the end result, I will post pics ...

Thank you for the input! That is all I was ever able to find as well, and the library proved to further it. The reason I am asking is that I have been asked to commision a Corinthian style helm for SCA use. I would like to be as accurate as I can, but bronze just wouldnt cut it. unless I made it rea...

Stepping back a bit - Greek armour.
I am wondering if there are ANY examples of the Greeks having used iron to form a helm. Everything I have been able to find through research has stated bronze, which is what I suspected, however, I have not been to the library here in Woodstock yet. Anyone here offer any assistance? It would be most...

Yes...the adhesive-backed felt is a wonderful thing. The place is located in Itasca, IL Gruber. It is about $10 for a 100' roll. I picked some up a couple months ago for when I get back to making my gauntlets... Speaking of... Wonderful job! What weight and type of leather did you use for the fingers?

Completed helm - 14th c Black Prince style Greathelm
Here it is. The completed helm. One thing I can point out, aside from the crappy pictures.... The brass is a little dinged, but I made the mistake of anealing it and forgetting to harden it again.... Aside from that, what does everyone think? It is 16ga 1050 - hardened and temper drawn - The brass i...

Nope. That is before the "tweaking" I was able to slowly bang it back to shape once I tempered it though. It took about 2 hours to do it though. It warped all of the pieces, not just the top front one. I finished riveting last night, but the tornado warnings sent me inside after about an hour of lis...

Not even close. I finished my spaulders last weekend and I am finishing up my new helm this week. I only have to buff, strap and pad it. I am happy with my CoP, but it is getting beat up fast, and there are a few things I would change in the next one. The rest is getting replaced as I make it - Arms...

Agravaine - *BUUZZZZ* Wrong answer....but as good a guess as any. I would recommend against the use of elbows for knees, they have different shape and bend a little different. Knees custom built for her would be best. As the the cost - no idea. I dont work in SS, or have not at a commercial level be...

Ok - Here is the PMs I sent to Gruber - Ok, this is what I have from drawing the temper at ~500 degrees I used a gas oven (about 7 years old) - just as a guide I heated for about 3 hours, 15 minutes and the result is quite nice. The blueing effect would have to be achieved at a higher temp - my gues...
