If I could not do that.....

I would say Edo period Japan. I have a great deal of interest in Japanese history, weapons and martial arts and the Edo period seems to have the most appeal.

The way I understand it, spaulders is an "up til the end of the 14th century" term, where pauldron started being used/interchanged.... As to the Period Police, Shoulder protection of that design was worn up through the end of the 14th century. Greathelms were worn almost through the end of the 14th ...

Terrance - If it is your intention to fight SCA, an aluminum helm wont pass. The rules say 16ga steel or equivalent. Aluminum is not considered equivalent. Looking good so far though. I agree with Deykin's comments about the rise in the back and the edge of the helm top. And, if you are concerned, p...

I am curious of these rules in the Middle.

I have several friends who have children in their teens that would love to fight but are unable without parents present.

How does this law transcend to the Middle?

That sounds unfair to me. Means I at 6'6'' would have to observe the same maximum size as a fighter 5'6'' or shorter. That is certainly not chivalrous in my humble opinion. bingo. you start throwing around arbitrary 'standards' and you're going to be screwing someone. i wouldn't call it unchivalrou...

I used an 8oz leather and traced the pattern from one I had made for the brass cross on the greathelm, then cut it with a sharp utility knife. After that, I just finished the edge with a leather tool and that line you see was also done with a leather tool. I do not know the tool name, but it is used...

Finished spaulder pics and progress greathelm pics

The spaulders are 18ga cops with 20ga lames in hardened and tempered 1050 steel with 18 ga brass. The great helm is 16ga 1050 hardened and tempered with 18ga brass. In the pics, it has not been hardened or tempered yet and is just held together with clecos. It has since been hardened and will be tem...
