Since it is quite literally a quip at me (for what reason I do not know) and I do not wish to be baited into some senseless conflict, I will simply state that I was mistaken. I, at one point, had called the Middle Kingdom, The Midrealm, and was corrected with what I had stated.

FYI - It is Middle Kingdom

Midrealm refers to a specific part of the middle kingdom (IL region specifically.)

The main rumors I have heard are the Atlantia and the West hit well above the norm for the SCA and the Meridies hits lighter.

Actually, it is dependent on you Kingdom. They have been officially approved in the Middle, as long as they are hard over soft (metal over padding) - I am in the process of making a pair of my own (see the other Wisby thread) and will be using them once done.

In which Kingdom do you reside?

My first stick pulped on the end at about a year, and it is now a short war mace. The other sword I made has lasted a good year and still going strong. The bastard sword had also lasted about as long. No signs of pulping soon in any case.

it is more durable that painting them, but not much. Fighitng SCA, it would be silly to spend the cash to podwer coat when you could spend a lot less and just paint.

You want to get info on case-hardening, talk to Gruber. He can load you up on info. As to heat treating to harden, you need a very high temp oven (1500 degrees+) that can be well controlled.
