Re: Help interpreting rivet sizes on 14th cent cuisse?
I would agree with Thomas - a nice small, solid rivet (1/8 shaft?) with a decorative washer would work very nicely. This is the inspiration for my own kit: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2b/Guenther_von_schwarzburg.jpg In my next rendition to up the bling, I am adding decorative was...

Re: Of teeny women and brigandines...
Let's see. Breast from rough from the hammer + some work.... Faster, easier, probably easier to maintain once you are done. Less bulky. And a lot faster to get to a usable state (I know, I repeat myself). Seems like a plan. A one piece breastplate or one split in the middle really will work ok for ...

His Grace, Alaric, is spot on. Murdock's affirmation of tendencies in Milwaukee support this completely. Master Valerius and Duke Raito and prominent figures in the area and being 14th century and Japanese, respectively, the influences are readily seen. I have recent moved from Chicagoland (Midlands...

Armourer Review -WildArmoury - Hourglass Gauntlets
Due to my circumstances of lacking what I need to make my own armour right now, and being in desperate need of new gauntlets, I broke down and decided to buy a pair from Wild Armoury. I just received them this week and here is a full review. Communication - Pre-payment: 5 out of 5. Intitial communic...

Kenwrek, I think that further experimentation is in order. Before you make, or have made 40000 of a thing, you want to make sure it is really the thing you need. Get a roll of 1/2" by .020" strap and start making some models. Make up a couple dozen one way, and then make up a couple dozen...

That is quite steep, if you ask me.
I would rather buy the strapping at 140$ for 2900ft and make them myself.

Re: St George - Hradcany Square - Body armour - Thoughts?
Here is a drawing of what I think we are talking about. The top edge would have a slight radius to “take the curse off” the top, this will also make the tooling last longer. The scale could also have a slight dome to the tip in profile. http://www.globaleffects.com/Temp/scalesize.jpg Often it is ea...

To review what you are seeing, if the video does not convey it... each row of scales tucks under the layer that overlaps it. This was tested with a snug fit on the arm. The gap between each row of scales and the stitching of the next row is approx 1/4". While it might prevent 100% flex of the e...

I've just looked back at your post. Fourteen scales is only half way around the elbow (yes?). I think we need to go all the way around. It's a lot of scales, I know, but I think it's what is needed.
