I moved from a 24x34 to a 18x24 about 18 months ago. HUGE difference. I just moved my defense theory to more of a buckler defence than a shield defense. While I am still working on it, that change seems to have been the biggest help to my overall performance with it.

Now days, I mostly fight sword foot forward, but there are times when I will switch to a shield foot forward stance. I find that I do it most often fighting lefties.

I had six at one point last year, not including the 5 loaners, but have managed to wittle myself down to 2. Once my shop is setup again, I will be adding at least one more, if not 4 or 5.....

you could hold your own sword by the hilt and the blade and smash someon in the face wth the part of the sword between your hands. It seems like maybe Nissan has done this before... I believe the generic term for them is a "stop rib" , and since they are similar to the stob rib on a breast plate and serve a similar protective purpose (turning a blade aside)....

Thanks all! No, I have not yet had a chance to get pics of him in the helm. It was given to him the night of his vigiling (Thurs war week) at Pennsic and he didnt fight on Friday. I have assurances that I will be getting pics of him as soon as he is wearing it and I will be sure to post them here.

I will have the end results AT Pennsic. I ran out of buckles and will not be able to get them until I get there, so I have 12 buckles to add once I get there. But I will have pics once I am there. :)

Looking good Kenwrec. What gauge/type of metal are you using? How did you get the golden finish? Uric 18ga for the knees and elbows, 21ga for the splints. All hardened and tempered.
