I still plan to host the Anti-Pas at Pennsic. Only the oldest (legal), ugliest and most primitive SCA armour allowed. That is AWESOME. To add to it, everyone should have to only speak in the latest 21st century slang... ...and have something like Disturbed or Puddle of Mudd playing throughout.

In the Middle, one factor is Pennsic. I am sure this would also be a factor in the East as well. Being Pennsic Crown for either the East or Middle adds a very large responsibility to the "normal" Royal duties. I am sure this is a factor in other Kingdoms as well, but I would wager it is no...

Although I have not done a direct recreation of this effigy, it has been a basis of the kit that I currently wear. I am making new limb protection to better emulate the splinting design. I have experimented a bit with how the couters and polyens attach to the splinted parts and believe that leather ...

Also say that plyo is your friend, for purpose of fighting. If you can do the higher impact, explosive type stuff...it will rock the fighting.

If you can get to it, P90x is excellent. In week 5 now and DAMN... S'all goood!

You can also use thermal crayons for the temps. Out of curiosity since I don't have cash at the moment anyway but how much are the cheap kilns. I really want to make a sping harness for myself when I'm done everything else. I was fabulously lucky and picked up mine for 300$ off ebay...but the size ...

The kiln I have has 5 switches that control the coils, but I only use the kiln for the hardening part of the process.

My oven hits the tempering and heat coloring temps that I use.

Workouts that work with your fighting.

Having started a workout a month ago and seeing the dramatic effects it has had for me, I am curious what type of workouts that other people have done to add an overall improvement to themselves that have impacted their fighting for the better. Almost 4 weeks ago, I started the P90x workout. In addi...

Open armour shop in Woodstock, IL. First official open shop of the year. I have heat and kiln, stakes and hammer, but feel free to bring your own. Making a day of it - 9am until 5-6pm or we get tired. Lunch - we generally do pizza from a local joint. (The greek pizza is a favorite!) I do have a boxe...

Hi Kenwrec, The metal work looks great! Nice etching too. A few questions if you have time. 1 Do you draw the flutes on there freehand? or use a template of some kind? 2 Why go any thicker than 16g spring? For weight? 3 When you use 1050 steel, you you have to temper it when your done to make it sp...
