It doesn't meet the requirements of shape and function. It's oversimplified and this oversemplification make it a total crap. There are plenty of flat spots facing the opponent, it would be too easy to thrust a point in the face with success. That was my thought. I'm no authority on faceplates, but...

If you can polish it to a mirror finish just once , you can then blacken/blue them, and that will keep off the rust. I think painting them would make them look bad. And although I think the greased bag idea is great, I wouldn't use WD-40. Too much other gunk in it. I'd use gun oil, or some other typ...

Götz von Berlichingen Don't miss out on what Sebastian's bringing up. There weren't 'bounty hunters' per se, but there were some very colorful, bad men. Gotz was a soldier of fortune, a robber baron (and Germany apparently INVENTED them); famous for having an iron clockwork hand and screaming for ...

This almost makes me want to buy a 16th century armour. It'd be awesome to have been a rodelero during that period...
You know you want to join the 16th Cen Mob. We have guns.
Can't wait for the movie, either. w00! I won't have to read subtitles!

Alejandro, He got a bunch of spoons at a garage sale, cut the heads off, and riveted them onto a canvas dropcloth. Not really. Wow that'd be fugly -D Not if he glued nickels all over it afterwards. Flecky,
The best thing to do is go to a local SCA practice. Here's a list of groups near you that should be able to help you out -

Think about it this way, your opponent's sword can only transit an area that is a torus (doughnut shape) centered on his sword arm shoulder. The sword must move through arcs that depend on certain things, like the starting location, location of the sword's Schwerpunct (pivot point) and mass of the ...

Tristan, I use my full gauntlets every time I fight, and I have been whacked many times in the hands; I have yet to be injured. My full gauntlets were made by Duke Kelson of the East. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/52/150911798_b6829fd4f0.jpg There's an enclosed thumb piece, that rests *over* my glo...

Going straight off of memory, so I might be wrong. But I seem to remember that's a member of the Chivalry who has epilepsy - any blow to the head, and he has a seizure. So he had that cage built to fight in, and if memory serves, takes any blow to it as good to the head. I think he's from West? Caid?

I know diddly over squat about the 12th Century. But if there's a good game around, I like to get the gear and go play (I need to start a 16th Cen. Mob) So how about a primer on what the proper attire is for the 12th Cen, where you can get it, etc? I mean, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting ...
