14th century: Sword belts sit at the waist. There is evidence for sword belt hidden under coat armour, but a slit allows sword & scabbard to be on the outside. These are general observations based on memories of funerary monumeny detals. Sorry but I do not have cites or examples at hand. Cheers, Ti...

Ask Baron Alejandro. He's got a burgeonet wiht alternate grills from Jeff Brunner aka Duke Kelson and a peascod in process. I know a few other folks but they don't post here. Careful. Say my name three times and I'll appear in a cloud of fake smoke and bad 70's laser lights. Here's my harness now -...

i'm also gonna add to stay warm you ever wear mail and plate harness when it's about 30' or less?? in the wind? You'll freeze yer butt off. Put a big puffy coat over it all and you stay warm armoured and combat effective. And am I remembering rightly that there was a little mini-Ice Age back then (...

I'm doing alright. I'm on-track with my weightlifting, but I'm about to revamp my routines so I can build some bulk. Tuesdays, it's getting too cold to fight outside, and we're gonna have to buckle down and really break a sweat doing drills inside. Wednesdays is my 'light' day for weightlifting. Thu...

Anytime I post or talk about the 14th C., the caveat should be made that I don't know diddly about it. HYW? What does that stand for? Hottentots Yield the Win? The reason my harness came out looking as not-bad as it did, is because I shot off an email to the inestimable Tasha, saying, "I got a basci...

..What I am implying is splinted or cuir boulli defenses of the earlier era which less well to do men at arms might cling to due to lack of means. What I am saying is that I suspect these textile defenses to be a hallmark of the less well to do.... (KIDDING MODE ON) Why, Jehan, are you implying tha...

My critique?? Kness do look floppy, get some lower profile pads abd youshould be able to knee strap em as they should be without problem. I can't really see a belt, should have a plaque belt. The coat does look w eee bit thin. and then there is the Grill. Over all very nice, i have to look for stuf...

David, No worries. I am ridiculously hard to insult. The medical biz and the SCA will whip that right out of you. Tasha's prodded me about a padded aventail, and I have to admit, embroidering my arms on the front of a padded aventail would be some big pimpin'. Yeah, the jupon/gambeson thing might lo...

Re: Le pas d'armes de l'Arbre d'or
I know I struck some unarmored parts, good baron, but I did not intend to strike too hard. My sincerest apologies. I love a good greatsword fight and believe you are advancing in that skill. Jehan - Your factor is very wise. Tim - Yes, they're hidden, as is most of my body harness. Halfdan - Personally, I loathe a strap behind the knee. Always tweaks my movement. They're strapped at the top lame and at the bottom one. The reason they 'look' big is because the pads beneath them are a lit...
