I've shown this one before, but Zygmunt had to bust all out with his Eastern European self, so here I am. Here's the original period illustration my kit is based off of - And here's my interpretation of it - [img]http://www.bord...

Arab sword play plates
Good morning, I've heard mentioned a couple of times by Brian Price and Scott Cozad (who know what they're doing ) about some plates from the middle east showing demonstrative moves on how to use a curved sword. Sort of an Arabic Talhoffer manual. Apparently, they might be in some local library in a...

Accountability for a sale I just made.
Karl the HeretiK has ordered a starter set from me. We have agreed upon what he wants and how I will ship it to him and we have each other's contact info. This is just for accountability.

Thank you, Connor, for autocratting such a good event. I hope we get more events of a similar nature. It was really cool to see the Lord Grey's folks there. More crossover is good, in my mind. Their clothing was very inspiring. And I *will* lure James B. into doing some Spanish LH with me one day. I...

thoughts on Mandrake Round shield?
Hey, how many of you fight with a Mandrake aluminum domed round shield? Item MSSR, 24 in diameter, 4 in depth. Looking to fight with it strapped (although in Alejandro's ideal world I'd like to fit it so I could fight with it EITHER strapped or center-grip) a la Bellatrix Style. Oh, and I'd be a lef...

Looking for a .pdf of Martin von Heemskerck
Doing research for a friend, looking for a dutch fencing manual, and this might be one. The book is 'Fechter und Ringer' from about 1550. If anyone has this pdf, and could email it to me, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Logan, To the best of *my* knowledge, there wasn't too much actual battle armor that survived. I can't find any existing battle helms, all the ones that survived were ceremonial. I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong. But, to answer your question this book is a good secondary source. Good luck! post...

Was the armor and dress of the Spanish Conquistador and the Portuguese Conquistador the same. Im Portuguese, and I know that weve been enemies of Spain for as long as both nations have existed, so I dont know if we shared anything with Spain. Is anybody aware of information on this? I didn't know t...

I should have checked this forum sooner! MastaDon Kevin is mostly right - you will wear out your fencing mask a little sooner doing cut & thrust. But you really have to be hitting pretty hard. Speaking as a manufacturer rep, here's what you need to look for. 1. Dimpling. Any sharp dimple is an insta...

I got to do some rapier practice with the fine folks of the Barony of Tir-y-Don in Coastal VA. It was great, and definitely worth staying over from the event with. We worked on non-linear movement, point control, and fighting while legged. Great stuff. A white scarf who used to live here in Atlantia...
