I seem to recall being told of a very good source for things of the 14th Century being "The Paxton (or Paston) Letters". Does anyone have any idea as to what I am rambling on about??? I gotta admit... On a side note... This is the type of query that I just don't understand. I see it all the time in...

It's sort of like how all Arabs today fantasize about being the heir of Saladin. Who, for what it's worth, wasn't an Arab. He was a Kurd.

The greatest irony is that Soddam Insane had delusions about being considered the heir of Saladin while persecuting Kurds...

But... he wasn't...

Ever try telling a Frenchman that Charlemagne was German? Yeah, their great natiional hero was just the first German to roll right over Parisian defenses... ;)

I'd like to see the finished product. I've never been able to satisfactorily do something with fur trim. I've wanted a fur trimmed/lined houp forever, but could never figure out how to get the fur trim on the edges not to turn back.

Charlotte, will you be posting a photo of the finished outfit? I'd love to see how it comes out.

Eff was probably doing a quick rendering just so I could see, and didn't bother with that detail. No biggie to me, looks excellent either way.

Actually I just missed that you wanted 'em going the other way. Sorry. :)

Eff, the church of the girl genius is still working out doctrine, so you might get an interesting and totally arbitrary penance, though likely to fit whatever the crime might be. That's good, because a good, snug fit is so critical. Effingham (I'm sorry, I'm pathetic. I couldn't help m'self...)

Actually, I've tried working with some of the softer fur bits, too (rabbit, in my case). It was a bear (okay, a rabbit...

Dang it, Charlotte, when you start a thread with a title like that, but ask the question that clearly, you give me no wiggle room to turn it into a kinky or even naughty topic.

You've spoiled my evening. Now I'm going to go pout. ;)

Please don't.

That's an obnoxious phrase that deserves to die.

I can't recall who said it, but I like this: "It's not so much 'dream' I have problems with. It's the 'the.'"

Everytime I hear someone say that, I think, "A dream to some, a nightmare to others."

You might want to rethink that. The hand piece is huge and bulky, and the solid wrist restricts your range of motions.

Kendo kote really are VERY poor for use with our kinda fighting.

Matsushita-san already has a coffee monkey. Nothing is made "in shop" anyway. What, they get their coffee from outside, now? I know I've asked, but I can't recall if you answered: Is Usami-san still managing the shop, or is someone else in (and if so, what happened to Usami-san?)? Effingham

I think I got in trouble from the Japanese translation of sane -> scales when it may be more correct to say sane -> lamellar plates. The problem is the kozane armours are lamellar. By definition. But armours made of solid metal lames are... um... lamellar. By... um... definition. Crap. Effingham

Personal rant: I think ducal perogative is shite. And I have less respect for any duke who uses it. Acting as "spoilers" in a tournament is little more than cheating, in my opinion. If you don't want the crown, don't fight. You have NO right to enter a tourney to knock other people out unless you're...

It's possible, but as a rule, I doubt it; that would be too unweildy, I'd think. One or two may be heavy mo-fos, but I just don't know. Some are -- just the usual one or two layers of fabric, or a leather backing. Most aren't, I think. Headband attachment is either with rivets or crosslaces -- you've got a bit of leeway with those. If you're doing the tied headband attachment, the ties seem to typically be extensions of a fabric lin...
