I'd love to order a set of Milanese legs -- God knows I need legs. But my discretionary armour money has already been spent, a postal order sent months ago, to Armorworks -- and I can't afford a *second* order now. And if, by some miracle, legs materialized from Armorworks, I wouldn't be able to use...

For the record, yumi cannot be used on an SCA battlefield. They require too much length of draw -- far more than the official "inches per pound" ratio, measured from a common longbow or recurve. Second, you need arrows a foot longer than everyone elses. Third, the cheap, practise fiberglass yumi sta...

Dang, sorry, Dale. I misread your "laces" as "lames." Sigh. More coffee. Must drink more coffee... That sounds like it would work -- but it really does depend on the measurements. There's no reason you can't use the same sized odoshi for sode, kusazuri, and dô. It's just not commonly done with the real thing. But it wouldn't be a horrid mistake for a replica suit for fighting. As to the odoshi -- you may in for a problem. You should be using polypropylene or nylon. Cotton ...

Frankly, that's an understandable sentiment. Of course, the whole basis of my order, though, was that it was originally an in-stock item that was then set to be made special by one of their subcontractors (apparently) as it was needed urgently. Well, I guess was is the operative part of that sentenc...

I've also found that they shrink slightly when I print them out. Thank goodness most of the patterns use the 1/4" square graph paper, which I can then enlarge to get the proper size. That's why I do all my patterns as PDFs. They always are 1:1 in printing, and if there's a specific reduction, all I...

A legharness pourpoint does strike me as an excellent location and carrier for concealed kidney belt plates for our SCA correspondents who don't otherwise have a hard shell about their midsections.

Brilliant! You've just solved something I was thinking about.
