Does the SCA have a requirement that your kits has to be accurate? I dont think so. Well, given that our only real rule is "wear pre-17th C. clothing" we *kind* of do. At least, it should be an honest attempt at real armour. There are a lot of people who wear Road Warrior Crap who shouldn...

Frankly, the theory strikes me as ludicrous.

First, that would require iconographic evidence that doesn't exist (drawings or depictions of such helmets historically).

Second, it would require that helms of that period actually *had* that feature.

Where's the evidence to support it?

Patrick Stewart as the Scottish King in the Scottish Play

Did anyone catch the recent airing of Mac... um.... The Scottish Play, with Patrick Stewart in the title role? Holy CRAP. That was INCREDIBLE. I've never seen such a perfect and magnificent production of the tale. It blew my mind. First, it was a modernization in setting, but script unchanged. Usual...

The only concern I've always had about ailettes is that they may actually TRAP a downward shot on the shoulder -- what may glance off is captured onto the ball of the shoulder.

Have you ever found that to be the case?

The thing about zunari is that there is a wide latitude in actual design. Narrow ventral plates, wide ones -- it doesn't matter much. They're usually narrower, though. That said, given the width of this one, I think it could benefit from more curvature (when seen from the front). The head looks a bi...
