Yes, there's a difference.

Tate eboshi are meant to be worn straight up.

Nagaeboshi is the type worn with armour -- the so called "land shark" hat.

There are patterns for both in the SCA-JML yahoo!group files page made by... uh... me. ;)

Most would, but there are a lot of folks who don't pay attention to the buttons (or know what they mean).

I'd think people might shoot out a PM, but a lot of folks might just want to see a website of "what I done did" -- and hot links are always good. :)

That's spectacular. One concern I'd have (which I must wonder about) on safety issues is -- given the leather sole of the chausses, and the leather soles of the shoes INSIDE the chausses -- is there not a potential for foot-slippage in there? It seems like it would be a potentially unstable footing ...
