To follow Adam's query, I had him make me a set of soupcan-style elbows to match the knees I have (also from him). This was to ensure a 13th C. "look" for an item that, while it didn't exist, at least followed a known form for the era. Both elbows and knees are in stainless; I am very hap...

I do them both ways depending on my elbow and shoulder. If you want to fold it just to it in multiple passes. I use a rectangular stake with a rounded end. Its realy not much different then say when I put the flair on a kettle hat bowl. Work your way around folding a little bit each time. Once you h...

What really surprised me was that the plaster original I made survived 33 mold makings. I've been using plaster of paris because it's so easy to carve but I usually break it after a couple of uses. Next time I will try and make it a bit thinner without breaking it. Switch to ceramical or ultracal p...

"1396, which might appeal to the more tartan-minded among you, for that if you like. " Thatd be great but no one would be wearing the Tratans in 1396. They'd be dress almost identically to northen England or those of simialr social group in France. Plus this is in Perth not exactly Waaaay...

I know he has had to straighten the brim before, especially on such a flat and big brim. Nothing lasts forever, mild steel d...

If you good people out there see any chickenshit, rude, inflamatory remarks that are out of line, I think you should let the person know in the post that what he said/did is chickenshit. Pitbull Ok, this is very offensive and came from your hand "What a load of bullshit. No one got rude here u...

I dont think its correct to say "romantic" is not authentic. Much of the 14th century tourney culture stemmed from a great intrest in the Arthurian Romances spoken about in song and poem in areas like Burgundy etc in the 12th/13th centuries This embracing of and idealizing the romantic Art...
