I can see that the skirt would be necessary but the sleeves not necessarily. Nobody going into combat in the 14th century, would willingly wear less than a full haubergeon. It all is absolutely neccessary if you want to understand and feel how Medieval armour functions, or you want to learn to figh...

My intention is to stand next to it and point out guys to get obliterated. "Smite me that fucker." I did this in the helms deep battle. I was standing around swatting the stray arrows out of the air as they went by watching the combat archers shoot at each other and looked down the hill a...

Matt says the two piece rivets are quite strong if used correctly. Also there's 76 of them in the pair. Solid rivets would have added about 2 hours and $15 in materials. And with only a $500 price tag those hours and materials need to be saved. Also the hope with using these on leather on steel is ...

I have a foam liner, I like it as I can take it out and toss it if it gets nasty and it only take 2 or 3 min to make a fresh one. Do not glue in a liner, you want to be able to remove it. A salty sweat soaked liner will contribute to the rusting of your helmet. Stick a little double sided tape on it...

I had one of Windrose's kits on my old helm and it was the only chinsrap setup I ever had that made the helm feel solid on my head. The original setup was tied, and it drove me crazy. Took too long to get it tight enough and I often had to have somebody help me with it. +1. tied chin straps are not...

Mine is laminated, a seperat split piece is attatched to the main pole, bend over a "brace" of rattan.
I prefer the shape and it preserves the structural integrity of the pole by not having a split in it.

Sure Max, I just think if someone stumbles accross it at an event and watches and is inspired then the event has surved more than one purpose.
I feel these things should be inclusive as it could be easy to come of as elitist or "above" the SCA norm.
