I assemble everything with screws as well, it allows me to fuss with the fit, and then disassemble and polish.

I was a week or so late on a comission, thats the worst ive ever done. I spend my customers deposit, thats just the way things work, deposits go into my bank account where money is drawn for materials bills etc etc. Its all a question of responcibility [This message has been edited by White Mountain...

Soldiers were also not always allowed to glean gear from the field for them selves, items scavenged would be turned over to superiors, certainly small items could be kept, but this would be akin to theft, Large items especially items above ones station would be difficult keep and use. I disagree, 12/13 ga would be a better choice. Even though it overlaps its just strips of steel, it does not have the benefit of being spherical and therefor strong. A fellow in my barony has one and its holding up nice, it looks to be about 12/13 ga. 14 ga 1050 would be an excellent choice, and it ...

Those look great Jeff, nice finnish and attention to detail. If i might offer a suggestion, I think you should make your nasals/ verticle portion of the brass on the great helm a little narrower. The sugarloaf is a difficult one to document as there are no surviving examples.
There are occasional sugarloafs depicted in illumination. The Mac bible comes to mind as one source.

I think in many cases the large bronze belts were the only body armour, some are quite large, like wwf title belts. I dont think its justification for the generi-celt battle belt though.

I always assumed the sca celtic kidney belt was an attempt to emulate the eary bronze celtic battle belts of which there is plenty of documentation

Looks great, and i second the need for a clean shop, I try to clean up every day, a half hour of cleaning each days is a better use of time than digging around for stuff because the shop is a mess
