I cant find a pic of the Burgh castle helm online, but ill keep looking, basicly its a sassinad style helm, I was comparing the sassinad method of construction to this helm, While the helms dont realy look at all alike they are similar in how they are put together. On both helms the perimeter band, ...

An insedt brow band, then the nose/nape band, with wide ear to ear bands. Its diff in overall shape from the burgh castle helm, but similar in its method o...

Vitus, think about going with typical sca ga in regards to the helmet, of a lighter ga in carbon steel. I recently made a bascinet for a customer (sca knight) who fights with steel weapons, People in his group with 18 ga hats now own spiffy looking helmets with big creases in them. Personally i disl...

Yesterday i was poking through some flemmish art and saw the first pair of rondell fan knees ever, but it was also a 15th century painting. Average height in the roman army had to be subject to change, the early army was made up of mostly romans, generaly smaller in stature than many of the germanics that made up the later army. I dont see the helm tail as evidence of a high wrap, it protects the shoulders though, nicely from blows that...
