I was hoping to have the maille on the mild one by now, but i had to mess with some of the welded links, now i have about 35 or so links i need to we...

I agree Vitus, it would be a wonderful event. I thinks Vitus's challenge was not a challenge with the intent to see whos group is better, but more of a challenge for the groups to put aside diff and accurate/inaccurate notions about each others groups and just get together to do what we love, learn/...

New helm progress pics (crusade !!)
This is the prototype for a helmet im building for a fellow archiver. This one is mild steel and has a round top. The final version will have a conical top (finnished) and be in stainless. In the morning i will attatch the welded aventail to this one, its made from 13/14 ga, the slats are 12. Once i...

I dress welds usually with 80, the rest gets put in 120, then i use 150, 180,220, then i use an emery rouge on a sisal wheel. You realy dont need the 150, i just use it to stretch the life of my 180 belts. You can see examples of this level of polish on my site http://www.thegreenman.net/wma/wmahelm...

there is no such thing as a stupid question. As for a helm being more difficult if made from bronze i guess it would depend, If you made a bronze spangen or great helm (both unlikely in bronze http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif ) It would be fairly easy, but you cant mig weld bronze, hte abo...

The helemt is steel Halberds, Its then sealed with epoxy primer, painted in a deep chocolate colored paint, then painted with a bronze based paint, the bronze is then given its patina with copper sulfate/amonium chloride, Unfortunatly some of it managed to get into the primer and cause some rust to ...

Im still working out a price list. Personally i cant afford to have runs of multiple materials, I definatly cant afford to have another run made in another material. If i do it will be a high carbon steel, i have no real intrest in mild or aluminum. ...
