Id speculate its not the armet design, just the execution. I see Sinric on occasion and have handled a few of his helms, i have a friend who fights in one of Sinrics armets, the helmet regularly sees pennsic, estrella and other events where marshaling is at its pickiest and the armet in question has...

That is pretty much what i mean Thaddeus, My stainless plates from the archive order had a fair size lip on the back from the stamping process, for the birka plate being able to flip it would make any diff anyway as it would look the same. flipping these plates is realy only of asthetics. Actually Stoffel, they do run on the small side, regardless of historical linings.
Wolfeargent has a fair amount of MJs gear, a fair amount of it is a little small.

For armour, with the exception of coats of plates, you want veg tanned, veg tanned can be hardened with water, chrome tanned remains soft regardless of what you do to it.

Pheylin dont buy from eastwood, find an industrial machine supply in your area, they should be able to have belts made for you from their supplier, just give them the exact dimensions and grits needed, you will pay half as much as eastwood.

I do a mix of both Matt and it works out well, a sort of screening process on the custom work that allows me to build custom gear for people of a similar mindset. And instock items to satisfy my "what i feel like building" moments.

I have not forgotten about you, im just trying to think of a way to do it and make it look decent. There is alot of grill work on all of the helms you bought, and it will require some pretty complex shaping to get it right.
Its a pretty big project.

If it was made from an acceptable diameter rod it should be fine, keep in mind most hockey grills are coated with a plastic, the rod diameter must meet sca specs so you would need to remove some of the coating to find out.
My guess is that it would be made from to small a diameter rod
