I so wish i could attend, handliong armour would be a treat, as would a visit to Toms shop (i could use some pointers) but it is quite far from me.

Mine are 20 ga and im quite happy with them, they overlap some so there is some added thickness there.
I have a friend who fights in a 16 ga globose breastplate and it looks like hell compared to my 20 ga ss lamellar

Its great you took a stab at it Melee, funny about having to destroy it before anyone can see it. I have the same expierence often
Ultimatly it takes alot longer than 6 hours to make a decent sallet, Try again, try a great helm, its an easier project.

Scrub the aluminum with a scotch-brite pad befor painting
The paint needs something to hold onto
Scotch-brite pads can be bought in an auto parts store, but they are basicly the same as the green scrubbie pads you can get in the grocery store

Hey Arland, i have quite a few pieces from the alpha supply page.
Gesswin are the make of mine, they look very similar.
I have not found much use for them in regards to working in the heavier ga the sca requires, but i have found them usefull for smaller projects
