i use straight argon, the helium in the triple mix imparts to much heat imho.

Thats what made mine so nice, the rubber compound in the ball absorbed the impact, we swung this thing at each others heads with alot of force and found it very tolerable, certainly more friendly than a stiff pollarm shot.

i have an auto dimming helmet, i love it, i probably weld 12 to 14 hrs a week, making my grills requires alot of positioning, holding etc, having a hand free is important.
Mine was inexpencive, i can go out to the shop and get the make and model if you want.

cool topic, the katanas curve i believe is happenstance, its a byproduct of its method of construction. The soft spine and the hard edge respond diff during the building process
with the soft spine "shrinking" pulling the sword into its general graceful curve.

i dont use a strap cutter either, i prefer a straight edge, if im cutting thick veg tan i will use it but thats about it. Also my current harness has no staps or buckles so my need for straps is pretty small

The pteruges were typicly part of a garment worn under the body armour.
Mine is laced to the bottom of the lamellar.
