Sure, although I have installed so many of Knuuts aventails, and each one has the same amount of links so its easy for me to punch the correct amount of holes.
Spacing the holes on average about 7mm apart gets me the results I need.

Id suggest running some stainless wire through the top rings then sewing the wire to the leather. looks better and makes it easier to repair. It can be hard for folks to understand just how much punishment SCA gear takes.
