SCA armourer question regarding brass rivets

I had a customer have his new sugarloaf bounced because the marshal says no brass rivets. I know many of us SCA armourers use them. I will reinforce a helmet getting brass rivets with some hidden welds. This rule frustrates the hell out of me So SCA armourers who offer brass rivets, how do you deal ...

I disagree lamella takes longer, I have laced a dozen or so lamella armours and can put one together in about 8 hrs or so.
Granted I have become pretty fast at it, still its not a really long project.

Are you willing to build a houndskull faceplate for it instead of the current klap?

I am not really interested in taking the maile of this helm as its been cut just for this helm, same with the visor.

Great fit for a 23.5 in grape, I can stuff my 24 in head in it but the opening is smaller than the brow area, so although its comfy on its a pain to put on my big head.
If it came on and off easier I would keep it and replace my helm which is mild.

Leo Medii wrote:Can the visor be lifted and closed on the fly?

It's bad a$$ that is for sure!!!!!!!

The visor just has a hook at the top, not a hinge. The idea being to take it off very fast, so while it could be flipped up it would not be secure like a hinge.

That's how my bascinet works, it was cool to be sucking stale air in the CoTT and to be able to just tear the visor off and chuck it aside.
Of course it should have been chained to my chest, it will be on my new body armour

A couple helms will be making it to my in stock page over the next few days.
