meinhard115, you look good, My suggestion in addition to Roberts would be to replace the shoulder defense with something more authentic and you would look quite good.

I use wood, artic birch, very strong. I edge mine with track shelving track. It has a .5 in inside diameter you your shield needs to be made from 2 1/4 in pieces. Not all plywood is equal, 1/4 in underlayment plywood is cheap and takes a curve easily, but is weak. Here are a couple images of it bein...

Just keep an eye out on local classified adds. My 18 in cost me 200.00 and had only been fired 5 times. My 24 in was 100.00 To some folks they are valuable, to others they are just a big thing in the way. You can use pyrometric cones or install a pyrometer. I harden in my kiln and temper in a quartz...

I use one, I have had no issue with the elements.
Whats nice about them , or many of them is they are assembled in rings so you can tailor the size of the kiln to the size of the project by removing a ring or two.
Replace the kiln sitter with a pyrometer.

Along time ago I wanted a spun top for a project.
I purchased one from them and it never arrived.
I asked about it and was told it was lost in the mail and I was simply out of luck, there was nothing they could or would do about it.

Its a pewter plaque belt with red decoration, its fine, do not change it.
All this colored belt stuff is disappointing.
It often leads to misconceptions of rank and gives the SCA a dojo belt system appearance.

There is a technique used to thicken the edges.
The edge thickness I do not believe represents the thickness throughout .

This region had a fairly unique kettle hat design.
If you wanted something that really evoked the time and region this "Scandinavian" design would be an excellent choice.

Aventail needed, barter ?

I have a bascinet experiment I am wrapping up and I could use an aventail to complete it.
I don't really want to spend any money at the moment but am happy to trade if someone has one sitting around unused.
Riveted or welded, stainless or mild.
Not interested in butted mail

Thanks
