Most of the patterns previously posted will not do for a 14th century arming coat. Here is more what you are after, though it is not a complete pattern: m I made my pattern, and consequently my arming coat, but following the pattern from the "Joan of Arc" arming coat as shown in Brian Pri...

A simple leather cord.
My elbows are attached to a splinted vambrace.
Nothing is pointed to my cote, my elbows do not shift at all.
I do require someone to tie them for me.

More along the line of what was terribly important for me 12/13 years ago seems less important now. I completely dropped doing things that were at one time important to me to immerse myself in the SCA. I have begun to revisit these things and have realized how much I missed them. I set goals and met...

I agree, I believe the Valsgarde splints have a cross hatch decoration but I could be wrong.
Hammering them out of iron and decorating them would be a neat project.
I am not sure if that's the project in mind.

I see no issue with using real wrought iron, if authenticity is the goal iron splints like those found in Valsgarde Grave 8 would be best made from wrought iron and its certainly a worthy project.
No need to get pissy about someone material choice.

The way Magnus at WMA does his kettles; the tabs (4 of them) for the removable grill bend outward towards the edges of the brim. Each tab has a 1/4" hole in it. And there are 1/4" nuts welded to the underside of the brim. Align the holes of the tabs with the nuts, and bolt down the tabs u...

Nice rules, although imho kit requirements should be from the first half of the 14th century as kits from the second would be post date for the actual event.
