for putting holes in foam I bought a piece of threaded iron pipe, iron pipe threads are tapered. I ground the threads down so I have a sharp tapered punch. I just press it against the foam and twist it back and forth a bit, it goes right through and makes clean holes. I use it to make thrusting tips...

[/quote] There's also the problem of novices giving up fighting. Suddenly, they find themselves with gear they don't want. Here is your cheap helmet folks Its rugged affordable and safe. Its cheap to build because they are all the same and are crazy simple in construction and it is made in a country with a low cost of living. It represents no spec...

No, they are not. Mine are under priced for what is involved in making them. Folks that think prices are to high should try their hand at making some. A lot of folks cant really tell good from the not that good, they see the price of the not that good and don't understand why the good is priced so m...

3-4 inch wide belts. and even wider. Is there ANY evidence for these? For women in the mid-to-late 15thc in Europe, fo' sho'. In fact, it's been a hard thing to find a repro belt buckle in the appropriately wide and shallow format that is seen in figural art on women wearing the v-necked dresses. R...

I ready dont understand what you are talking about. The plates are 3 1/2 by 1 3/8th. They have always been that size, they are die stamped, the size does not/has not changed. Are you taking into account that the laced plates have a different dimension because there is an overlap. A 3.5 inch plate la...

Those are mine, I see only one style.
The plates are stamped well enough that you can flip them to alternate direction.

I should state I did not lace the above shikoro, the customer did. As for material, I made 2 steel shikoro lames, these served as press molds for abs lames that were heated and then placed in the mold until hard. The larger steel lame was then added to the bottom to add weight so the shikoro would h...

that's a lovely helm...very snazzy, I like. As for the comments about the backpoint on the skull....I like the look, but they are right it isn't really the way they were done. On this point I feel strangely guilty and if anyone wants to set my mind at ease feel free to do so. Back around 2000 I wan...

Is there a difference in quality? I would say no, Polarbear forge offers laser cut, mine are die stamped, mine are also media tumbled for a particular finish, I am not sure if others tumble theirs or not. The tumbling blends the finish and eases the edges of the sides and holes. Fine armours have b...

Its just a plain old bascinet, the skirt is intact, you can see it peeking out from under the shikoro in the front. The paint is a spray bomb. the brim is a slightly curved rectangle. The top of the grill was removed. The helmet was scuffed by hand with a scotchbrite pad, cleaned and spray painted. ...

Depends on the helm. I took an Iron Monger bascinet and did this to it for a friend To a purist I am sure its a crime, to get a 90.00 bascinet to look somewhat Japanese its ok. It required some drilling, some painting, some cu...
