Without the bargrill, it is essentially a barbute. While there is some overlap between the bascinets and barbutes (bascibutes, perhaps?), this is more of a traditional bascinet with more coverage in the cheek/face area. I need to run off to a meeting.... However, I will try to edit this post a bit ...

For period turnshoes I suggest: m Dru is a nice guy. He has a good collection of extant shoes and a great understanding of their construction. The revival shoes are in the style of a turn shoe... not turn shoes, from my understanding. Depends on what you are looking for, I would guess. Personally, I...

No, to my knowledge it is not representative of anything even remotely resembling a mid-late 14th century bascinet visor. Decent bowl, though. Pretty art... but not historical. Purely modern "sport armour". A "wouldn't this be cool...." hat. What is displayed on pg. 52 of Arms and Armour of the Medi...

It is a "jacl of plates", quite different from a brigandine.

This has been discussed a LOT already:

You are in somewhat of a quandry.... The cheaper you make it, the more you will sell... to a point, of course. At $50 a piece, you may sell 200....but at $25 a piece, you may sell 500. No quandry, really. Given what the market will easily support... they will most likely NOT be priced below $50.00....
