It appears that the description text on Amazon refers to the original printing in 1985. At that time it may very well have been the first of its kind.

Id suggest brassing the edges. then using ferric cloride to etch more knotwork:-) one of the things I love about the 1300-1400 century time frame for armor is the penchant for OVER doing things with a lot of brasswork etc. plus the brass stiffens leather a good lot:-) Is this something that was don...

If you visit the open air markets in Italy you can get it for just a few dollars per yards... if that helps.

We have a bunch here at the house from when we would spend days walking the markets.... perhaps Jen might part with some.

It wouldn't hurt to ask her, I guess.

There is some stuff called 'Fluid Film' which is the best rust preventer I know of, and leaves no discernible coating when used in sane amounts (hence the name). 'Blue Magic' or 'Autosol' are extremely effective for cleaning brass, and, combined with #0000 fine steel wool, works pretty well on stee...

I use 16 g red brass for all armor peices. the depth makes it stand out more and makes it MUCH more durable ( if you use a buffer for polishing thinner brass may become MUCH thinner within a year of buffing) build it to last and you will have no issues.... aka think what it will look like five year...

I suggest using tape as a pattern. You really want to do as little "curving" of the flat strips as necessary. Bending along the flat is fine... curving along the width can be a pain and cause much more trouble than it is worth. Any bit of shaping needed after the following instructions can be done t...
