Unfortunately the Chicago Swordplay Guild Demonstration had very poor sound quality and was not useable. The Fall 2005 session is in the works for Albion in New Glasur, Wisconsin. Perhaps we could get CSG to do something at that time? Or at the one in January at Centaur Forge. They have room inside...

The post-holder will on taking up appointment be required to take a leading role in the project to re-photograph the European arms and armour and the preparation of the CD-Rom summary catalogue. This is the good part. I think you are preaching to the choir. I must be a Jedi to feel that. I had hear...

It is a good book. I would not pay more than ~50 bucks for it, though. It has a real SCA feel to it. I think that is the majority of its target audience, too. Shop around, it is available for lower prices. I got one for free and the other for $35.00 on half.com (I think), for a friend. All in all, i...

Florence is my FAVORITE city in Italy. You MUST see the Piazza del Duomo. Two stops that you MUST make are: The National Bargello Museum Museo di Stibbert They are great places. I have been to both and they are WELL worth the time. Enjoy the food, also! Don't feel bad asking locals questions or dire...

One thing to think about is that lamellar transfers a blow to multiple plates. The plates can be thinner due to this and the fact that at many points throughout the piece you will have a triple overlap of plates. Not sure why you would want 16ga unless you plan on stopping ballistics. Unnescessary o...

Brian's Weekly 14th c. Armour Quiz (10/11/04)
As a stimulant for accurate 14th century armour research and discussion, I decided to post a series of questions on pieces of armour from the 14th century on a weekly basis. Some of the questions will be easy, some of a more difficult nature. Hopefully as we near the end of the discussion we will ha...

Honestly, keep an eye on E-bay. I have seen them go for as little as 2-300 in like-new condition. Also, you can buy bench mounts for the #8 whitneys. That is what I ended up using as I bought a floor standing model and then sold it right away. Ended up being just WAAYY too much for my purposes. The ...

ahhhh, So it would seem that I would want to stick with the coat of plates. Now the next question is are there any patterns besides the one in the archive that anyone would suggest? I have worked ABS plastic, as well as hammered plate, I like lightness but am a bit of a stickler in my advanced year...
