R.Q.P. lists one belt fitting from the Seljuk period on the website. It's close, but not quite right for me, and it's only one part to a complete belt. I'd feel wary buying it and not having it mesh with anything else. Thanks for all the help but my search will continue. I have some irons in the fi...

I am planning on making a lorica segmentata probably the Corbridge type out of 410. I can make out of .032 thickness and have it super tough and somewhat rust resistance. What is cool abou this armor if you look at the designs, that are pretty basic and easy to replicate. A cardboard mock up is a g...

I present the theory without giving it credence, however I do find it plausible. Segmentata plates and hardware do pack much smaller when unattached to each other and assembly requires a small skill set. We know how segmentata was packed and transported since an example was found at Corbridge. It w...

I'm going to agree with Heath - that your choice of padding materials didn't help - I experimented with mousepad neoprene, and found it transmitted shock -beautifully -NOT what you want.

A textile padding would have served you much better.

Even better with two spearmen, as playing tetherball with 9 foot spears is a an excellent high-speed targeting drill.

Threaded fasteners do show up quite a few hundred years prior to 1900 - some of the most germane to this forum are those used to attach 'exchange pieces' for jousting armour .
