2 ways: Oven and welding gloves. BE CAREFUL. You can burn your self and ruin your oven. Then shape on a log and wrap with a wet towel and duct tape to cool. Heat gun and welding gloves. Same as above. I've always wondered about boiling water and plastic... Also, you can make leather cuisses, vambrac...

For the arms and thighs, take a piece of card board and give it an easy bend it so that it's 1/2+ way around your arm (or leg). Trim it till its slightly larger than you want it. That's your measurement of how big to make the section of lamellar. Add a strap and then lace it into the body piece. Thi...

My ss maile shirt can "pad" shots by displacing a little bit of the force of the blow throught the weave, but the majority of the force goes right through.

It is not worn for protection.

He makes great stuff. The problem is that most weapons (other than the padded heads) don't last long enough to justify the ammount of work needed to get them to that level. For me anyway, I have very limited time avalible and my helm needs to be repaded, I need a new tunic, have to relace my lamella...

Not sure. I believe so though. Did anyone else see the East Kingdom fighter whose strap failed and his helmet was knocked clean off, ala Knight's Tale? It was the second spear heading towards his face, and stopping short, that really freaked a couple of us. Yes. That was one of the LochLevins (know...

Re: Atlantian Spear Regulations

Since I'm the one who put it in policy, let me explain. I went through the rules not too long ago and realized we had no allowance for madus and double-ended thrusting spears that folks have been using for YEARS safely. Rather than generating a complex rule to cover specific weapons, I opted for th...

No, there is nothing wrong with rattan spears. I just think putting a butt spike on them is not going to be effective. I havent broken the code on how to get the fishbat to either (1) not fall off, or (2) actually come out of the sheath. I hated the mace on my wrist too. Just thought of all the too...

There is nothing I can compare to the selflessness I've experienced and witnessed by fighters helping other fighters (that they will compete against) to become better fighters. I got ...

The ones I let go bad in the water were these cheepie "dollar store" type.
They were pretty good.

The 2nd buy was Hartz brand. They were a rawhide shell over this "marrowish" solid piece that looked like it was processed from hooves. Very dissapointing.

Finished my shields

I finally got my shields painted from the old Haus design to the new shield livery that combines Northern Army (white pointed cross and white 'embattled border on black field) and VDK House badges. The rawhide did not workout for me. The first batch was left in the water too long and started to get ...
