Unless we decide to bury our heads in the sand, we must look at the SCA for what it is. Not what we desire it to be, or even what it claims to be. It is a predominantly pre 1600 (with no early cut off) re-enactment that has its warts: some pirates, lots of 'wenches' and a few people running around i...

D. Sebastian, I thought this was a good technique but all it really does most of the time is allow your opponent to attack your buckler arm. Then you're not "pinning" with authority. The pin (edge of your buckler on their shield) is an attack. I normally place and then give a big punch/press. This ...

Not wanting to derail J&T's thread, I've moved this conversation here. D.Sebastian, I don't think I'm KSCA, primarily since I have no idea what that is. KSA is "Knight of the SCA". J&T, as a Marine infantryman I will tell you that the effort needed to employ a machine gun effectively is greater than sitting on my legs in a stick fighting guard.

If you were engaged in a toe to toe fight, a proper cut to the leg would result in massive blood loss and shock would set in. Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on many factors (armour, attack, movement, placement, location, depth of wound, etc, etc, etc, etc...) Maybe I'd just "jammed into the dirt to curt...
